1. General Introduction
1.1 Description
1.1.1 Type: Commercial Sheet Doors to be manufactured by Bestar Door Corporation.
1.1,2 Operation: to be rope pull or hand chain operated depending on size.
1.1.3 Mounting: to be interior face mounted on a prepared opening.
1.2 Related Work
Opening preparation, access panels, finish or field painting are in the scope of the work of other sections or trades.
2. Product Overview
2.1 Curtain
2.1.1 Sheet: 26 gauge galvanized grade 80 full hard steel roll formed in continuous corrugation. Galvanized according to A.S.T.M. A653-G60 and finished with baked epoxy primer and baked polyester topcoat.
2.1.2 Side Stripping: P.V.C. rubber to be attached to curtain edges.
2.1.3 Bottom Bar: curtain to be reinforced with a bottom bar consisting of 2” x 1-1/2” x 12 gauge galvanized steel angle with E.P.D.M. astragal.
2.2 Drum Assembly
2.2.1 Drum: to be formed with 26 gauge galvanized steel sheet rolled around and attached to stamped 16 gauge galvanized steel drums to restrict deflection to .03″ per foot (2.5 mm/m) of door width.
2.2.2 Springs: to be oil tempered, grease packed helical torsion type designed to cycle 12,500 times with an overload factor of 25%. Springs are to be mounted on a 1-5/16” (25.4mm) hot rolled steel tubing of minimum 14 gauge.
2.3 Support Brackets
Support Brackets: to be 3/16″ (4.76mm) thick structural steel angles and a 1/4″ (6.35mm) thick steel diagonal brace welded in a triangular form to support ends of drum assembly.
2.4 Operation
2.4.1 Rope Pull: to be 1/4″ (6.35mm) polyester rope attached to bottom angle up to 10′ x 10′ (3048mm x 3048mm) doors.
2.4.2 Chain Hoist: to be cast iron pocket wheel drive with machine link hand chain for over 10′ X 10′ (3048mm x 3048mm) doors.
2.5 Guide Assembly
2.5.1 Guides: to be roll formed 16 gauge galvanized steel channels.
2.5.2 Guide Depth: 2-1/2” deep per side to provide sheet penetration adequate for proper operation.
2.6 Weather Seal (Optional)
2.6.1. Side Draft Seal: Brush seal with aluminum retainer (field installed).
2.6.2 Top Draft Stop: to be E.P.D.M. seal attached to top of curtain to seal against header (field installed).
2.7 Locking
2.7.1 Hand Chain Lock: bracket, to be mounted on guide angle or wall for chain operated doors.
2.7.2 Curtain Lock: to be hardened galvanized steel slide bolts attached to bottom angle suitable for padlocking. (padlock by others)
2.8 Finish
Surfaces: to be shop coated with rust reducing black prime paint.
3. Installation
Installation: to be by Bestar Door Corporation, authorized representative according to Bestar Door Corporation standards and instructions.
